In this article, we break down the highlights from a detailed video review of the SG Pulse electronic level, featured on the Paramount Tactical YouTube channel. The review is hosted by Greg, an experienced shooter who offers a practical and honest take on how SG Pulse performs compared to other electronic levels on the market. The full video below 👇 👇👇
First Impressions: SG Pulse Brings More to the Table
As Greg explains: “This is the SG Pulse — a brand-new electronic anti-cant device that offers all the key features you’d expect from a high-end level… and a whole lot more. On top of that, it’s almost half the price compared to similar products.”
🔴 🟢 🔵 He’s been using it extensively and has a lot of positives to share — but also gives a fair look at the drawbacks you should know before buying.

“Even though the SG Pulse offers significantly more features at a lower price point, some shooters may still prefer other electronic levels — and we’re going to talk about why.”
Why You Need an Anti-Cant Device?
If you shoot past 300 yards, few upgrades matter more than a solid anti-cant device — especially an electronic one.

As Greg from Paramount Tactical says:
“There’s almost no accessory that will increase your hits and decrease your misses more than an anti-cant device.”
He runs both an electronic level and a backup bubble on every rifle.
⌖ Cant = Miss
In long-range classes, Greg sees it all the time:
“We say ‘check your bubble.’ They don’t — miss.
They adjust — hit. The gun was slightly canted.”
Many shooters don’t notice cant, especially shooting positional or on uneven terrain.

Why Electronic Wins?
“The bubble fades into the background — this doesn’t.”
The SG Pulse stays visible in your peripheral vision and actively alerts you. Mounted under your non-dominant eye, it’s impossible to ignore.
“When this thing is blinking at you, you won’t forget — and that means more hits.”

Potential Downside #1: App Required
One key difference between SG Pulse and many other electronic levels is how you adjust settings.
As Greg from Paramount Tactical explains:
“To change any settings on the SG Pulse, you must use the app. There’s no way around it.”
You can turn the device on or off, switch between stability and level mode, and calibrate it manually — everything else is app-controlled.
Some competing products offer on-device control, but Greg notes:
„Some systems are overly complicated — it feels like you have to turn them on and off 15 times, rub your head, and pat your belly just to make a simple change.”
SG Pulse + App = Smooth Experience
While some may see app dependency as a drawback, Greg makes it clear: “The app experience has been super smooth. I’ve had zero issues with connectivity.” No frustrating pairing, no Bluetooth drama — just quick setup and intuitive control.
You can easily adjust:
🔸 Brightness;
🔸 Sensitivity;
🔸 Other key settings.
“It just works. Smoothly.”

Potential Downside #2: Rechargeable Only
The SG Pulse doesn’t use replaceable batteries.
“If it runs out of power, you must recharge it,” Greg explains.
Some other levels use replaceable batteries, which means you can just swap them out and get back in action within seconds. With the SG Pulse, you’ll need to plug it in — but the long-lasting battery means that won’t happen often.

Magnetic Charging — Not USB-C
“The SG Pulse charges via a proprietary magnetic cable. I wish it used USB-C instead.”
Why magnetic? Better water resistance and improved durability in rugged conditions. Still, it’s a downside if you lose the cable — as Greg did. But: Excellent Battery Life 🔋
Despite this, battery performance is a huge plus:
✅ 30+ hours of use, still 67% battery left.
✅ Survived multiple full training days and a 2-day match.
Bonus: Smart Sleep Mode 💤
“It powers off automatically when not in use. With other devices, users often forget to switch them off — and the result?
“Next morning? Dead battery.”🪫
Especially if the device uses a non-standard battery, you might need to carry spares just in case.
Accuracy Comparison: How Precise Is the SG Pulse?
Greg from Paramount Tactical tested the SG Pulse using a precision scope-mounting jig.
“I’ve confirmed the jig is perfectly level. The SG Pulse shows green — right on target.”

He notes that the device is extremely sensitive, with the built-in electronic angle indicator showing changes down to a tenth of a degree.
“This angle indicator is tricky to zero, but the SG Pulse responds accurately.”
✅ The takeaway?
SG Pulse delivers precision on par with the most sensitive electronic levels on the market.
SG Timer 2 Improvements & Integration
I’m about to show you how easy it is to change settings through the app, but first, let me talk about the SG Timer 2. I had the original version, which one of my instructors is still using on a long-range course. This is my first time seeing the second version, and it’s noticeably better.

The build quality is improved. My only complaint about the original was the tone wasn’t loud enough — this one is loud, probably the loudest timer I’ve used.
The magnetic mount now has an index point, so it doesn’t slide off like the old one did.
Battery life on the original was insane — I’d charge it once a year, even running courses every weekend. The new one charges via USB-C, which is really convenient.
Even if you’re not getting the SG Pulse, this timer is a must-have for any shooter. Together with the timer, app, and SG Pulse, you get a seriously solid training system.
Drills App Walkthrough & SG Pulse Setup
Let’s jump into the Shooters Global Drills app. I’ve got both the SG Timer and SG Pulse powered on. In the top left corner, it says “Disconnected” — tap that, and the app immediately detects both devices.
First, I added the Pulse, then reconnected the Timer. Now both devices are connected — and honestly, it’s been that easy every single time I’ve used the app. I’ve done this hundreds of times without any issues.

To adjust SG Pulse settings, just tap the device in the app.
- Sensitivity comes preset at 15. I drop it to 9 — works perfectly even past 1,000 yards.
- Brightness came set at 10, which was blinding in low light. I set it to 7 — still perfectly visible in full daylight, but much more comfortable at dusk.
- Horizontal level limit is at 0.4°, which works great.
- Stability zone — I left it as is, and it’s been solid.
As for training modes, there are a bunch available, but for now, I’m just using Free Shooting — super straightforward and effective.
Real-Time Video Training with SG Pulse & Timer
In this part of the video, the shooter demonstrates how seamlessly the SG Pulse and SG Timer work together with the Drills app. He starts by selecting Free Shooting mode and switches to video recording. The app instantly displays both horizontal and vertical movement from the SG Pulse, offering real-time feedback.
To prepare for the drill, he sets a 10-second delay on the shot timer — giving himself time to press start in the app and get into position. He then engages several 4 MOA targets downrange, firing six rounds total — two from each of three shooting positions. The setup captures not just the video, but also detailed shot data and rifle movement between positions.

After completing the drill, he reviews the data and confirms that all six shots were registered correctly. He emphasizes how intuitive and reliable the whole system is: the app connects instantly with both devices, settings are easy to adjust, and the feedback is incredibly valuable for serious training. Even without using SG Pulse, he calls the SG Timer the best on the market.
SG Pulse and Shot Timer – Summary
The SG Pulse system, especially when paired with the Drills app and SG Timer, offers a powerful and accessible solution for both long-range and practical shooting. While some may prefer non-rechargeable or app-free devices, the overall value and functionality of this system make it a strong choice for most shooters.

The updated SG Timer stands out with key improvements over the original version:
🦾 Better build quality;
🧲 Stronger magnets and mounts;
🔊 Significantly louder signal.
It maintains everything users appreciated before, while resolving previous minor complaints. The reviewer praises its reliability and seamless performance, stating it „just works.”
Paired with the SG Pulse, this setup offers high-end capabilities at a fraction of the cost of many advanced electronic levels — making it an outstanding value for any precision shooter.
